Bird Aviation Museum & Invention Center
2678 W. Cessna Avenue
Hayden, Idaho 83835
(Once you are at gate #14 at the corner of Atlas Road & Cessna, please call the museum for the gate access code)
Important Notes regarding operations:
- If the outside temperature is in the upper 90s, please call the museum and listen to the voicemail to see if the museum is open. The museum doesn't not have air conditioning in the hangar and it gets very warm.
- If the air quality is very bad due to the smoke in our area, the museum will close for the safety of everyone.
- If the temperature is below freezing, the museum will be closed as heating a large hangar to a comfortable consistent temperature is hard.
- If schools within the Coeur d' Alene, Lakeland or Post Falls school districts are delayed or closed due to weather, the museum will be CLOSED.
Museum closure dates:
- November 23-30, 2024 (Thanksgiving week)
- CLOSED, December 21, 2024 through February 28, 2025 (Museum will temporarily close during winter months as staff changes up museum displays, replaces flooring, rotates airplanes and performs the annual deep cleaning).
- Saturday, April 19, 2025 (Easter weekend)
- Thursday, July 3-5, 2025 (Independence Day weekend)
- Tuesday, November 11, 2025
- November 22-29, 2025 (Thanksgiving week)
Please note *** even during the published winter extended closure period, occasionally we are still available to open up and give tours as we are still at the museum working. Please email, call/leave a voicemail and we will get back with you asap.
